We have compiled this information to help you, the student, through the first few days in Ireland.
Please make the time to read this information that will guide and help you.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE IN IRELAND
When you have collected your baggage and passed thru customs, you will exit thru doors to the main arrivals where you will be able to see our Munsterhost sign with our staff.
Please make yourself known to our staff who will guide you to a seating area, before going to the transport outside.
During the trip down to your destination you will stop at a service plaza for a toilet break and some refreshments if needed.
Our staff will keep you informed of the first location the bus will stop at and advise the students that require to exit the bus.
HOST FAMILY
When you arrive at the host location, your host family will collect you from us and take you to their home.
When you arrive at your host family home, if you are a little hungry, please ask your host family for food, and they will be delighted to do this.
You will be shown around their house, and to the room that you will be sleeping for the next few months.
If you find you have issues understanding your host, don't worry this is normal, just ask them to repeat what they said or to slow down what they are saying, they will always understand.
Try and not use any translator tools, unless it is extremely important, and use it very little please.
Try to call your parents and give them an update, as they will be wanting one.
Go to bed and get a good nights sleep.
Next morning and everyday you are with your host family you will have access to Breakfast, lunch, and cooked evening meals on a daily basis.
Please remember that Irish families eat the main meal at different times to you, so you will need to adapt to there ways.
SCHOOL DAY
On the first day of school, the host family will take you to the Uniform shop to get your uniform.
Semester: 2 shirts/Blouse, 1 jumper, 1 Trousers/Skirt, 1 tie.
Year: 2 shirts/blouse, 1 jumper, 2 Trousers/Skirt, 1 tie
The uniform payment has be taken care of by Munsterhost.
Please bring everything you require for school, as you may be taken to the school after the uniform fitting.
When you arrive at school, please introduce yourself at reception, where they already know that you will be arriving and will take you to your class.
Make sure you are going to the correct class.
When the school day is over you will either travel home by Foot, Car or Bus.
If it is by bus, the Host family will already have your bus ticket and given it to you.
The host family will advise you where you are to get the bus from.
Please catch the correct bus home.
If in doubt, just Ask the bus drivers, they are very helpful.
If you get on the wrong bus, you will end up nowhere near you host home.
After a few days at school, you may be asked to choose your subjects.
Please note that you will need to supply your own workbooks, pens etc.
MEETING YOU
I will meet you when you get to your destination, where you will be introduced to your Host family.
